Cezarion Cezary Michalski ("we", "us") operates Zaile ("the App") and is the data controller for your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
1. Information We Collect
Account data
When you create an account we collect your email address (for authentication), your display name (shared with your partner), and a user identifier.
Countdown data
We store your countdowns — names, dates, and themes — and sync them with your connected partner.
Location data
Location is only collected when Meeting Mode is active, with your explicit consent, and is not stored after Meeting Mode ends.
When you enable Meeting Mode, your location is shared only with your connected partner, and you can disable sharing at any time.
Device & usage data
For app functionality, analytics, and crash reporting we collect basic device information (device model, OS version, app version), a device/app-instance identifier, approximate (IP-based) location, and product-interaction and diagnostic data via Firebase.
2. How We Use Your Data
- Provide and maintain the App
- Sync countdowns between you and your partner
- Enable Meeting Mode location sharing
- Send notifications about your countdowns
- Improve the App through crash reports and analytics
3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
We process your data on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract — to create your account and provide the countdown and partner-sync features.
- Consent — for location sharing in Meeting Mode and for analytics; you may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — to keep the App secure and to fix crashes and errors.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Your data may be shared with:
- Your partner: countdown data and, when Meeting Mode is active, location
- Firebase (Google Cloud): authentication, database, analytics, and crash reporting
- Apple: App Store services, subscriptions, and push notifications
5. Data Storage & International Transfers
Your data is stored using Firebase (Google Cloud) infrastructure in the European Union region. Some processing by Google or Apple may occur outside the EEA; where it does, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information.
6. Your Rights (GDPR)
Under GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction, and objection, and to withdraw consent at any time. You can delete your account and all associated data directly in the App (Settings → Delete Account).
To exercise these rights, contact us at support@zaile.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Poland, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO, uodo.gov.pl).
7. Data Retention
- Account data: retained until you delete your account
- Countdown data: retained until deleted by you
- Location data: deleted when Meeting Mode ends
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16; if you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, secure authentication, and regular security reviews.
10. Third-Party Services
- Firebase (Google): authentication, database, analytics, and crash reporting
- Apple: App Store, subscriptions, and push notifications
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or by email.
